King Charles III England Coast Path Opens: Polydeck Projects

We are thrilled to celebrate a monumental milestone for the Great British outdoors! On the 19th of March 2026, His Majesty King Charles III officially inaugurated the King Charles III England Coast Path. Stretching an incredible 2,689 miles (4,328 km) around the entire English coastline, it is now officially the longest managed coastal walking route on the planet. This project, nearly two decades in the making, creates a continuous trail through some of the country’s most breathtaking landscapes.

At Polydeck, we are incredibly proud to see our infrastructure supporting this historic achievement. Our commitment to creating safe, durable and accessible walkways has led us to several key locations along this new National Trail.

Hampshire: Currently in the Spotlight

If you caught the BBC News coverage of the opening, you might have seen our team in action! We are currently installing a newest stretch of POLYwalk™ on the salt flats near Portsmouth, Hampshire. This project is vital for ensuring the path remains accessible even in challenging coastal environments.

Lovers Walk, Somerset: A Dramatic Vantage Point

One of our most visually stunning installations is at Lovers Walk in Clevedon. We installed a 14m x 1.5m POLYbridge™ that sits right on the cliff edge. This slip-resistant bridge provides a secure vantage point for walkers to enjoy the dramatic coastal views without compromise.

Brancaster, Norfolk: Accessibility for All

In line with the Equality Act 2010, our work at the iconic Peddars Way in Brancaster involved installing 7.7km of POLYwalk™. This anti-slip boardwalk was designed specifically to provide a safe and accessible route through the Norfolk marshes, while also saving over 400,000 plastic bottles from landfill.

Exe Estuary Trail, Devon: Long-Term Sustainability

In Devon, we’ve installed a series of 53 connected POLYbridges™ spanning 350m. These bridges are built to last over 75 years, helping both cyclists and walkers navigate the protected landscape of the Exe Estuary. This single project alone repurposed nearly one million plastic bottles.

A Sustainable Future for Our Coastline

The King Charles III England Coast Path is more than just a trail; it’s a commitment to nature recovery and public wellbeing. By using the recycled materials in our POLYwalk™ and POLYbridge™ systems, Polydeck is helping to protect the very environments walkers come to enjoy.

Congratulations to Natural England and the many partners who turned this 2,689-mile dream into a reality. We are honoured to play a part in this national story.
